Description: The dry wines of Valpolicella come in tiers of quality with Amarone at the top, Valpolicella Classico Superiore in the middle and Classico at the bottom of that quality pyramid. However, there are degrees of quality by producer all the way in-between and if you're looking for the finest example of Valpolicella there's only one name to call upon; Giuseppe Quintarelli. Most probably the best Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC in the world.

Very ripe, bright and perfumed, with overipe plums, prunes, spice, a touch of residual sugar.

The cult wines of Quintarelli are highly sought after by oenophiles the world over. Quintarelli has many wines in the stable from Valpolicella to Reciotoes to Amarones all benefitting from the exceptional attention to detail in the vineyard and winery.

These wines are expensive due to the labour intensive processes that go into creating these modern masterpieces.

Sadly, Giuseppe died in 2012, now his daughter Fiorenza, her husband, Giampaolo Grigoli, and their children are continuing his vinous legacy and are just as dedicated to quality as Giuseppe.

Our Recommendation:  A richer wine than a standard Valpolicella, this wine stand up to the big bold red meat dishes, stew, and steak. Serve this with your most impressive homemade lasagna and Ragu, enjoy the incredible notes from this gorgeous wine.
